Koei Tecmo has announced the possible release timetable for the upcoming chapter in the long-running button masher: Dynasty Warriors 9. As of this writing, the game is currently planned for an early 2018 release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Along with this announcement, the publisher/developer has released a new trailer featuring a handful of new details. The latest video puts the spotlight on the Three Kingdoms and the game’s brand new State Combo system.
The new combat mechanic offers players a bevy of options during combat, to avoid repetitive monotony during the button mashing. First off there are the Flow Attacks which allows players to create move-set combos based on the enemy’s position. These attacks can continue through when the enemies are prone, in mid-air or stunned.
Second of all is the Reactive Attacks. These types of offensive move are quite versatile and include a handful of varied attacks: counterattacks, dash attacks, assaults, guard breaks and finish moves.
Finally, there’s the Trigger Attacks. There are the strongest attacks which will change the enemy’s state and will vary depending on the combination of buttons pressed.
