Press Start | This is What We Played for Week 34

Welcome fanatics to Press Start! This is a weekly editorial that dives into what we here at The Game Fanatics have been playing. No spoilers on the newer games that we’re playing but we will give you a quick insight on how good or bad it is. Games will range from retro to new, casual to FPS, we play it all!

Jeff:

I’m still working my way through GTA IV, and it’s really starting to become work. The missions are frustrating, as is the lack of checkpoints. Luckily, Red Dead is a far more relaxing experience. I’m also still playing on my Vita, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite handhelds.

Darrin:

Alan Wake (PC). If you haven’t played this yet, and love psychological horror, do it now. I’m slapping myself for having waited so long. Also tried out the NHL 14 demo. Feels right, NHL 94 mode feels even better.

Jen:

I had the chance to review Memoria for Steam. Amazing game. I honestly didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I did. Check out my review on Memoria, here. I’ve been spending a lot of my time play Saints Row IV. I’ve only done a few main mission quests. I’ve been busy collecting and doing the minor stuff. Not sure if I’m suppose to be at the level that I am currently at. Awesome game but right now it doesn’t feel like a game but more of a DLC. Perhaps once I start playing more from the main missions it will.

Greg:

Finished Saint’s Row 2, loved it. Although the last missions felt artificially difficult due to some frustrating vehicle controls. Started Saint’s Row the Third. Spent a LOT of time with the character creation (as I usually do). Feels different than SR2, quite a bit. But still fun. I still can’t drive well in game, though…

Billy:

Been playing a ton of DOTA 2 and Infinite Crisis. While doing a lot of learning for DOTA. Which led to my first awesome match where I earned 13 kills and only 3 deaths and a 20 minute victory. Last night I busted out Torchlight 2, AMD leveled an engineer up to 12.

Arnell:

Almost through with Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. I’m at the very end. I also picked up the 3 Street Fighter II SNES games since they were released on the Wii U‘s VC. Got all 3 at a super discounted price. Played each one and beat it with at least one character.
