We have been eagerly awaiting the release of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Square Enix have finally given us a launch date.
Square Enix and Eidos-Montreal hit fans with a double-barrelled announcement earlier this week. Firstly, fans were given a launch date for the anticipated title…sort of. Square Enix said the game will drop globally on PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 23rd 2016. The second part of the announcement was about the controversial pre-order system they have chosen, and the collector’s edition.
The collector’s edition includes a steelbook case, a 9″ Adam Jensen statue and a 48 page art book.
The collector’s edition will also include all content from the “Augment your pre-order” system that Square Enix has put in place. The basic premise behind the “Augment your pre-order” is that tiers are unlocked with superior rewards depending on the global number of pre-orders.
The reason I said “sort of” when it came to a launch date is because of this “Augment your pre-order” system. If the global pre-order number hits 100% the game will drop four days early.
The different tier rewards are as follows:
Choose between three Starter Packs that cater to stealth, aggressive or nostalgic players.• Intruder Pack – Provides a custom-skinned version of Adam Jensen’s trench coat and pistol with a silencer, laser sight, recoil and accuracy upgrades. Other bonuses include two EMP grenades, five packs of 10MM pistol ammo, 1000 credits and a Praxis point for early augmentations.
• Enforcer Pack – Includes a custom-skinned version of Adam Jensen’s combat armor and combat rifle with a holosight, reload and capacity upgrades. Players will also receive two HE grenades, five packs of 5.56MM combat rifle ammo, 1000 credits and a Praxis Point for early augmentations
• Classic Pack – Grants access to Adam Jensen’s iconic combat armor, trench coat and revolver from Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Players will also receive an extra pack of revolver Ammo.
Tier 2 – One Item per Pre-order
Pick between one of two bonuses that further immerse players into the game world – a digital art book that shows the aesthetic of the game, or a digital OST sampler with six tracks from award winning composer Michael McCann.
