After years of complaints from fans about WWE’s SmackDown vs. RAW, THQ has begun listening, cutting the slack, and starting fresh — New engine, revamped gameplay, and a sleeker presentation. It’s about time, if I do say so myself.
Featuring a new “Predator Technology,” WWE ’12 features a brand new, much more dynamic animation system. If you’re in a triple threat match and your opponents are going at it, you can now stop the move being done between them by doing one of your own. You can now string together moves much more fluidly to create better move-strings. Also gone are the days of John Cena warping to the middle of the ring to perform is signature 5 Knuckle Shuffle, or The Rock to perform his People’s Elbow. THQ and Yukes are also working to improve the presentation with better camera angles (which have been a major complaint from fans), the screen graphics such as name plates, and environmental elements such as lighting to create a much more true-to-life look to the game.
