Visage is a game in development by SadQuare Studio and it’s inspired directly by Kojima’s somehow doomed P.T. game. Its creators have recently announced that Visage will be delayed. The release date jumps thus from Q2 2017 to an indefinite date that could well come after summer.
“As many of you know, this is our first game, and Visage is grand and ambitious,” they say in a Kickstarter blog post. “It’s hard for us to estimate the time it will take for our small team to complete it”. On a brighter note, they also confirm that “not time nor money” will prevent them from finishing the game. “We just don’t have any official fix on when” they conclude.
Visage in a Nutshell
Visage may not resonate loud in the list of upcoming titles but it surely has a style of its own to keep you interested. Labeled as a “psychological horror game”, this title comes from a small indie team aiming quite high. It takes inspiration from the Silent Hill series and, according to its creators, it will be a game that “truly terrifies people, that gets in your head and makes you question everything”.
Concrete details about the narrative are scarce but all the screenshots we have seen speak of a truly asphyxiating atmosphere. It contains everything that works in this type of titles: the secluded, weird little town, the decaying house, the gory murders and of course, your fair share of ominous creatures and eerie silence cues. It’s fueled by Unreal Engine 4, and though there are no final guarantees, SadQuare is aiming to bring the experience to VR as well. In terms of platforms, the game is coming for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
If you dig terror and uncanny mysteries, Visage may be a game to definitely keep on your radar.
