Poor earnings and sales of key games has caused THQ’s CEO Brian Farrell to announce the effective cancellation of the Red Faction series. As well as complaining about the quality of ‘Armageddon’, he also called the quality of two other unidentified recent core games into question. Presumably, he is referring to ‘MX vs. ATV: Alive’ and ‘UFC Personal Trainer’.
“The last three launches we’ve had have been disappointing in terms of the quality.” “Mid-70s [Metacritic score] is not good enough, and the entire team in our core group knows that.”
It now seems that Farell’s last hope to stop him becoming a disappointed wreck of a man, is Saints Row: The Third.
“We believe strongly the quality bar is there.”
The previous Saints Row games have generally been quite popular, with Saints Row 2 gaining a Metacritic score of 82. The twisted humour implemented into the games is a massive selling point, especially if you have weird fantasies of running around, smacking people with a giant purple dildo, dressed as a space ranger.
