Who’d have thought it? Sony announced today that the Playstation 3, with the 160 GB hard disk drive, is now retailing at the recommended retail price of $249.99 in the US, €249.99 in Europe and ¥24,980 in Japan.
Sony’s Andrew House also added that the new price for the console is available immediately. So anyone who bought a PS3 yesterday for the old price, without keeping the receipt, must now feel pretty silly.
The price cut will result in a massive leap in people owning the console. With the 360 v PS3 argument continuing on various forums across the web, the new influx of people buying the PS3 could shadow the 360’s sales figures. Only time will tell.
