The crowd sourced Ouya gaming console is receiving some moderately harsh critiques from early adopters who managed to kick in enough cash to receive a developer version of the console.
The biggest of those critiques that the company themselves have decided to discuss are:
- External storage for games
- Simpler game install process
- More metrics for developers
- Controller support for video players
- More payment options
I wouldn’t have imagined the Ouya would have these types of issues, especially metrics for developers to view and interpret. As for more payment options I have absolutely no idea what that is supposed to mean: Will the Ouya have a subscription based service? Your guess is as good as mine.
A few developers are even stating the face of the game controllers are falling off during the shipping process. For a Kickstarter project that’s projected goal was $950k, to raise over $8.5 million, you’d think they would’ve resolved trivial matters like that with the extra cash they had laying around.
The Ouya has 60 days left before it will be in the hands of the public. I am rooting for them to fix these issues before then, otherwise this little console will be D.O.A and nobody will want anything to do with it.
