Oh Snap | Batman: Arkham Origins Reactions

When Batman: Arkham Origins was first announced, you could say I got a little excitedNow, thanks to the latest issue of Game Informer, we have more information about the next entry in the Batman: Arkham series, and while it is a prequel, it’s not, as previously reported, apparently going to be any lighter in tone than the other two games in the series.

Batman: Arkham Origins, coming to Wii U, PS3, PC and Xbox 360 this October, will feature the first confrontations between Batman and villains like Deathstroke, Penguin, Black Mask, and obviously more characters that have yet to be revealed. The problem, though, is that while this takes place in the same universe as the other two games, it’s not being made by the same developers.

Batman: Arkham Origins

Rocksteady made Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, and made us believe a licensed superhero game could not only be good, but worthy of Game of the Year honors. Now WB Games Montreal is taking the helm of the series. This doesn’t necessarily mean the next game will be bad — heck, all they really have to do is just copy what Rocksteady did before them — but it does make me wonder if they can truly capture the magic that the Batman: Arkham games has given us… we know one thing for certain: it’ll be a very, very big game.

That doesn’t even include the folks at Armature studio, who are working on PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS versions of the game as a 2.5D, Castlevania-type adventure. It’ll be the first “real” game Armature‘s released.

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate

Anyway, I’m approaching this with cautious optimism, as you can tell in the vid below (sorry for the shaky cam, I was pretty excited when the news dropped).
