New Warhammer 40,000 RPG Announced

A new Warhammer 40,000 Action-RPG has been set for release in 2016 for PC, Mac, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.

This new Warhammer 40,000 game is called Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr and will be made by indie game developer NeoCore Gamers, creators of other Action-RPGs like The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, and will be created in conjunction with Games Workshop, the creators of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. They have also released a trailer to go with the announcement.

When speaking to IGN, the developers of the game have said that the game will be a “persistent sandbox RPG” where players will be able to play as a member of the Inquisition for the main single-player campaign. Then, once the single-player campaign is completed the players will have “years of content” due to the sandbox elements added into the game.

The idea is that despite the campaign concluding, the story continues in a “colossal sandbox game” where there will be a “continuous flow of content that will enrich the Action-RPG gameplay.” Essentially, a sandbox game with some story elements set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Sounds exciting.

The beauty of the Warhammer 40k universe speaks for itself.

This excitement is amplified by the fact that the developers said that they chose the Warhammer 40,000 universe because it is “intense, brutal, and visceral – a perfect material for an Action-RPG.” These three adjectives are what have characterized the Warhammer games during the THQ games so it is exciting to see that we might be getting more of those.

With the fall of THQ and the purchase of the Warhammer license by many independent studios it is hard to find a good Warhammer game nowadays. However, this time is different as the developer is not only experienced in creating Action-RPGs but also will be working together with Games Workshop on the game. Hopefully we can reach the standards of previous Warhammer games with this new installment.
