My 10 greatest comedy films

The Internet has gave everyone a voice, and most of the people have used these voices to make lists. So you can bet your bottom dollar, that there are thousands of ‘Best Ever’ lists. So I’m not going to do a ’10 Greatest Comedy Films ever’ list, I’m going to do a ’10 Greatest Comedy Films according to me’ list.

10

Blazing Saddles: This western spoof, directed by comedy genius Mel Brooks. Shows how a lowbrow town has to accustom to there first black sheriff. Since the previous sheriff was killed due to a plot by politically connected nasty man Hedley Lamarr. Who wants to make the town unlivable, since its in the way of a planned railroad. Bart(Cleavon Little) the new sheriff is a sophisticated urbanite, along with his new Partner Jim(Gene Wilder). Must save the town from the dastardly plot, as well as convince the Racist town of Rock Ridge that he can do his job. Slap stick comedy that often breaks the fourth wall, and will have you quoting for many years to come.

9

Planes, Trains and Automobiles: This film shows the attempts and failures of Neal Page(Steve Martin), a family man to get home to his children and wife for thanks giving. Through constant misfortunes like; bad weather, busted trains, stolen credit cards, money troubles and the Rent a car setting on fire. You see the straight laced business man’s anger level building, as he bottles all of his emotions until he erupts. On the other hand you have the quirky and lovable dope Del Griffith(John Candy), who acts as the other half of Neal. Working as a travelling Shower curtain ring salesman, he tries to help Neal get home. To just make his situations worse off. This film makes you laugh just thinking about it, as the two great comedians come together to form the perfect comedy duo and ‘Odd Couple’.

8

Duck Soup: The greatest Marx brothers film ever made, it shows the brothers at there best. With brilliant comedy timing, and nonsensical storyline. This time following Groucho as Rufus T. Firefly, newly named the new dictator over Bankrupt country Freedonia. Watch as Firefly uses wit and the help of his two brothers harpo and chico, who find there way to becoming double agents. As he declares war on neighboring Sylvania over the love of wealthy Mrs. Teasdale. The random and memorable quotes and classic gag scenes will stay with your forever.

7

Ghost Busters: The idea to put Bill Murray with Dan Aykroyd was simply stunning. The story follows three unemployed parapsychology professors, as they set up there own ghost catching business. The sarcastic and care free nature of Peter Venkman(Bill Murray), the child like naive nature of Raymond stantz(Dan Aykroyd). Then add in Egon Spengler(Harold Ramis) a smart one for contrast. And what you have is 105 minutes of immature, idiotic and fantasy humour.

6

Super Troopers: The film follows a squad of random highway police, who like to get up to some hilarious Shenanigans to amuse themselves at work. But when they stumble across a crime scene that could make them look good, as well as stop them from getting closed down. They do all they can to out wit the local cops.

5

Borat – Cultural Learnings of America for make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan: Once Sacha baran Cohen had finally taken his Kazakhstany news reporter to the big scene. It resulted in a simply stunning and slightly offending Mockumentary that would make all people across the world stand up and applaud. It push boundaries to the limit with its; humorous observation of the Jew’s, ideals of gypsies and addiction to the big breasted Pamela Anderson.

4

Sleeper: This is Woody Allen at his very best, offering the kinda sarcastic nerdy persona’s no one could ever impersonate. The story follows a nerd-ish store owner, who is revived out of cryostasis in a future ruled by a oppressive Government. Its his clumsy humour all the way through, that will leave a never ending smile on your face. As you both laugh at him and are left embarrassed for him.

3

Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz: I couldn’t decide which is better, but Shaun of the Dead & Hot Fuzz are two of the Greatest British comedies ever. Its the simple stories of Two idiots, stuck in a Ridiculous situation. Both of them Thriving on the ride with hilarious consequences, yet oblivious to any real danger. This is seen especially in Hot fuzz, as the two turn into renegade police and take the law into there own hands. One with actual experience, and the other gaining all the know-how from Police action films like ‘Bad-Boyz’. Then place two dimwit British people in a zombie outbreak, and even the Action plan is Hi-Lary-Arse. Its like they took there show Spaced, and gave them a bigger budget to be more retarded. But you cant argue with results.

2

Anchorman: You can clearly present the exceptionally defective human of Anchorman by one of its many quotes. I’m going to go with ”60% of the time it works, every time.”. There’s nothing more funny then shouting a quote like that from across the room, to be returned instantly by ”What? You pooped in the refrigerator? And you ate the whole… wheel of cheese? How’d you do that? Heck, I’m not even mad; that’s amazing”. Anchorman shows 4 male friends working in the television news industry, at the brink of the gender equalization in society. It goes from a Man’s man’s man’s world, to total equality in a heart beat. But for Ron Burgundy, its harder then you’d think to become accustomed to a less sexist world. Its mainly down to his and his friend stupidity, who all pitch in with hilarious lines. Brilliant sabotage plans, and a tear jerking performance of ‘Afternoon Delight’. This is Guy humor right here. If you don’t got a willy, You wont get the silly.

1

Number 1. The Big Kahuna. My favourite Comedy Film EVER, is Strange Wilderness: The story is insane, the cast is legendary and the stupidity makes Anchorman look like ‘Devil Wears Prada’. This film is so idiotic, that quite literally you’ll be laughing at a laughing Shark. The story See’s a failing Wilderness shows last ditch attempt to save there show, by going on a hunt for Big foot. Whilst on the way picking up show footage of there journey, and adding some very special wildlife voice overs. In essence its Stoners with a wildlife show, and it is just to funny.
