Metal Gear Online Beta for PC Coming Tonight

Metal Gear Online

Metal Gear Online is still pending for PC players, but any that choose to can at least wet their gun muzzles in the experience.

Konami announced during their Twitch livestream event that PC owners of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain are on the stoop of having access to their first look at the game’s online suite. Owners of a copy of the game just have to opt in and download the patch, then be ready to jump into the fray at 10 P.M. PST (1 A.M. EST).

That same livestream also showcased a small sample of what’s to come for Metal Gear Online in terms of DLC. A new, unnamed map was shown to be a more compressed version of Mother Base for the online arena, and fans can even help name the map using the naming convention of the other maps as a template. A sharp new knife was also revealed during the brief gameplay footage.

Orange Floatie…no. Sunburst Buoy. Yes.

Despite a lot of fans being done with Konami, the company has, at the very least, promised to bring more and more activities to Metal Gear Online. Survival mode, a mainstay from previous Metal Gear iterations that rewarded wins rather than round scores, was promised by the company late last year as well as the indefinite “more” tag. The game currently only has a handful of items for purchase and download on the console store fronts. Konami hasn’t confirmed if these new items, modes, and maps will be free of charge or not, but the beta will not take any microtransactions to play. Small victories.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was not only one of the best games of the generation, it also made our Game of the Year race quite exciting. Are you interested in the Metal Gear Online beta for PC?
