Green with Envy
First trailers have arrived online this week, showing the return to the best crowd of velt talking animals you’ll ever see. The Muppet’s are Back with vengeance.
However the trailer they’ve released hasn’t gone for the typical over the top Muppet’s feel, instead going incognito with a typical Rom-com trailer. The trailer shows what looks like the conventional Romantic comedy film that are released every year, featuring Jason Segel and Amy Adams. With typical overused music for the genre, and the same over used narrative. However towards the end of the trailer, after the lovely dovey then fall out general storyline, the Muppet’s are awkwardly introduced. So what starts as the trailer everyone just turns off too, subtly ambushes you with the introduction to a new Muppet’s movie. And in true Kermin fashion, you cant help but throw your hands in the air and shout ”Yaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!”.
As well as this trailer, the new Muppet’s movie have also released a mock teaser to be played before the Hangover 2 in cinemas. The teaser which copies the style and format of the first hangover 2 teaser, is much more direct with the Muppet’s message. The message obviously being ”Muppet’s…Why not?”.
Through both of the trailers though, there’s one flaw. No actual plot is mentioned for the actual film, so I guess that’s where I come in. The Movie will follow a character called Walter, who is self deemed as the world’s biggest Muppet fan. Who has to work with Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) to halt the destruction of the Muppet’s theatre from an evil profiteer. Since underneath the Muppet Theatre is a huge deposit of oil, the plan is to bring the disbanded Muppet crew back together for one last show. In hopes of raising enough money to save the Theatre. However finding all the Muppet’s and getting them all back together are two very different things.
The Muppet’s movie will be in cinemas with all its well known puppet stars on November 23rd(US) and February 17th(UK).
