Lords of the Fallen 2 Readies to Strike

Lords of the Fallen came to the gaming world and made enough of an impression to garner the potential of a future sequel.

While that sequel is early in the process, Lords of the Fallen 2 is already bringing hope for innovation to the series.

Executive Producer Tomasz Gop dropped the news on his Facebook page, saying that the team at Deck 13 were working on the “vision and concepts” currently. He was unwilling to share much of anything else in the way of details.

The original Lords of the Fallen is still fairly new having come out in America on October 28th, and emerged to mixed reviews immediately. According to Metacritic, the title is averaging 68 out of 100 on PlayStation 4 from game reviewers with user reviews skewing slightly more favorably. Central criticisms around Lords of the Fallen seems to surround the abundant similarities to the Dark Souls and Demon Souls series without much deviation from that formula.

Lords of the Fallen

From a sales perspective, Lords of the Fallen hasn’t broken any grand records. According to VG Chartz, which keeps an unofficial account of sales across all platforms, the game has only sold in the area of 200,000 units across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. These numbers were still apparently enough to allow Lords of the Fallen 2 a green light.

Lords of the Fallen, for those that haven’t heard of this title, is an action RPG that integrates the in-game currency with a stacking checkpoint system that gives bonuses for each safe point passed up.

As said before, the combat, controls, enemy encounters and world design is reminiscent of From Software properties with a similar early-game learning through punishment loop. There are also choices to be made within the story that can affect certain NPCs and the narrative’s ending.

Lords of the Fallen is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
