New from Image Comics comes Harvest. A world where human trafficking and organ mills run by the Yakuza are ever present problems. The five part comic series comes from the minds of writer, AJ Lieberman and artist, Colin Lorimer.
Overall, the series looks like it will have a bit of an unsettling or “sick” look to it. And that’s all welcome by me. Being a fan of Dexter, I’m no stranger to blood or feeling comfortable watching a character be around it. It looks like there is always a hint of green in the panels in some way or another. If you take a look at some of the previews from Image Comics below, you’ll see what I mean.
The description of Harvest on the Image Comics site, lets it be known that human trafficking, the Yakuza organ mills, and rogue medical teams will be constant throughout the series. Not to mention there’s a six-year old drug fiend involved as well. The story reminds me a bit of the novel written by Eric Garcia, The Repossession Mambo. Or as most might know it, the feature film called Repo Men, which starred Jude Law and Forest Whitaker. It even looks like it has a hint of Deus Ex: Human Revolution in it as well.
Dr. Benjamin Dane must take back organs that have been placed inside of some very important and powerful people if he wants to take down the enemy, quite literally, from the inside out. Of course the “repo” part about taking back organs is what reminds me of the film Repo Men. But what Image Comics describes this mind curdling twisted new baby of theirs is as follows.
If Dexter, ER and 100 Bullets had a three-way and that mind blowing tryst somehow resulted in a kid, that kid would read HARVEST. Medical Grade Revenge.
Harvest will hit store shelves sometime in August of this year. Part 1 of 5 will go for $3.50. And if you’re still not convinced about checking this bad boy out, take a look at these previews below.
