eSports Division hires Nick Allen to head Counter Logic Gaming

Madison Square Garden

This past Wednesday, the Madison Square Garden Company hired seasoned eSports executive Nick Allen.

The Madison Square Garden Company owns various franchises such as the New York Knicks, Rangers, and Liberty.  The venue itself already hosts a slew of eSports events including last year’s League of Legends World Championships. Earlier this year, the company took a step further into the realm of eSports with its acquisition of Counter Logic Gaming.

On Wednesday, the Madison Square Garden Company took a dive even deeper into the world of gaming by hiring Nick Allen. Allen will be their new Vice President of eSports.

Allen most recently worked in the same position for the popular streaming service Twitch. Previous to his time there, he worked with Riot Games as the operations manager for competitive gaming. While at Riothe infamously fined many members of the eSports community for violating service terms. Among those fined by Allen is Counter Logic Gaming, a company that he will now head.

According to CLG‘s press release announcing the new hire, Allen will officially assume the new position on October 2. Due to his experience in the eSports community, his focus will be on brand innovation and event management.  He will also be acting as the chief operating officer for Counter Logic Gaming.

Current CLG President George “HotshotGG” Georgallidis said of Allen:

“Nick is one of the best people I know in eSports. I’ve known him for many years and seen firsthand the passion he has for the space and what he has done for the industry. We are excited to have Nick here on the CLG team.”

Allen has had a hand in organizing many industry events including CLG Fan Fest and the LoL Championship Series.  Fans of eSports can expect an array of new events at Madison Square Garden and elsewhere throughout the United States.
