THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games have announced the third iteration in the Darksiders series. Darksiders 3 follows a new protagonist, Fury, the sister of the four horsemen and is set for release in 2018.
Set during the events of Darksiders 2, Fury will set out to take down physical embodiments of the seven deadly sins. Darksiders 3 is being described as an open-world action adventure with a large focus on exploration and environmental puzzles.
Darksiders 3 will feature the same hack-and-slash gameplay the series is known for. THQ Nordic has also released a bundle featuring the remasters of Darksiders and Darksiders 2. Darksiders: Fury’s Collection is currently 50% on Xbox One, with similar deals on Steam and PlayStation 4.
Nordic Games acquired Darksiders, along with Red Faction and MX series in a $4.9 million bid after THQ filed bankruptcy back in 2012. Along with Red Faction, the MX series, and Darksiders, Nordic Games acquired dozens of THQ properties. This was Nordics largest acquisition of intellectual properties. In 2016 Nordic rebranded themselves as THQ Nordic, stating the reputation THQ had among the gaming community was a huge factor in this decision. THQ Nordic is set to make a name for themselves under this new brand and continue the Darksiders legacy.
There is no official release date for Darksiders 3, but it will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
