BioShock: The Collection Coming This September

This announcement probably doesn’t come as a shock to most thanks to the rumor mill spinning around the potential Bioshock remastered project. 2k has, however, put an end to these rumors by confirming BioShock: The Collection is a real remaster and on its way this September.

BioShock: The Collection launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on September 13th in the North American region. Our Australian friends have to wait until September 15th, while the collection launches everywhere else internationally on September 16th.

BioShock: The Collection comes with all three games (BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite). This extraordinary collection will allow for players to experience the horrors of Rapture and Columbia all over again or for those who never played through these award-winning titles.

It’s been nine years since Irrational Games and 2K took you on a terrifying journey to the depths of the underwater city of Rapture with BioShock. Five years since you returned to Rapture in BioShock 2. Three years since you grabbed a skyhook and sailed across the floating city of Columbia in BioShock Infinite. And on September 13, 2016 (September 15 in Australia and September 16 internationally), you can relive these award-winning adventures or experience them for the very first time remastered for current-gen consoles and digital PC with BioShock: The Collection.

So along with the three main games, just what kind of extra content can players expect to experience? With the original BioShock, there are Challenge Rooms where puzzles must be solved while dealing with various splicers and Big Daddies.

There’s the Museum of Orphaned Concepts and just as its name suggests, players can walk through a virtual museum inspired by Rapture to witness all of the concepts that did not make it into the game.

Unfortunately with BioShock 2, the multiplayer portion won’t be making a return with the remastered version. However, both Minerva’s Den and the Protector Trials DLC are included with the sequel. Minerva’s Den is its own separate story where players can use expanded combat weapons such as the Gravity Well Plasmid to explore an all new side of Rapture. The Protector Trails deals in controlling an Alpha Series Big Daddy before Bioshock 2’s story begins.

Finally, we have a ton of content coming along with BioShock Infinite. Burial At Sea Episodes 1 & 2 takes the player back to where it all started: the beginning of Rapture’s downfall! The Clash in the Cloud DLC is a horde style challenge that takes place across four maps as player try to reach wave 60. Last but not least comes the Columbia Finest Pack, which grants players access to a bevy weapons, upgrades and special gear items.

All of this content is being made readily available for the retail price of $59.99. Even without the included DLC, the three base games alone makes this purchase a wise one.
