Indie developer, Bearded Man Studios, recently released their first video game titled Word Lab for Android. Word Lab is a unique word based game designed to put your vocabulary to the test against yourself and your friends. Players can challenge their friends by linking their Facebook account with Word Lab. Keep tabs on your daily, weekly, and overall score against your friends through the leaderboards and earn yourself some bragging rights.
Word Lab is something of a mix between Scramble With Friends, and Letter Press. Players are challenged to help The Professor create words that are three letters or longer while the clock is ticking. The longer the word, the higher the score. Get the highest score possible before the timer runs out, and the Evil Killer Cube will eats his own master.
To create words, letters do not have to be right next to each other, but will add to your bonus score if they are. After completing a round, players are rewarded with one of three random prize boxes that can add on to your score, as well as coins that can be used towards power-up purchases to gain the upper hand against your friends. Powers included are the following:
- Clue: Highlights possible letters to create a word
- 5x: Multiply your score 5 times
- Time Warp: Add fifteen seconds to your time to reach your destiny and prolong your busy work schedule!
- Shuffle: Shuffles letters on the board around
- Energize: Double the letter value and double the fun!
Word Lab is still in its beta phase, but as time goes on more powers and skins will be added that players can add to their arsenal with their hard earned coins. If you’re struggling a bit, or want to stomp your friends’ scores even more, players can add more coins to their bankroll through in-app purchases in a variety of bundles.
