Wii U Performance Update Delayed

Earlier this year, Nintendo stated that they’d be implementing a series of updates that would add Virtual Console software to Nintendo’s eShop, and increase the Wii U’s overall performance. However, Nintendo has decided to delay the performance boosting update, and instead release a separate update that will provide the following improvements.

Version 3.1.0 U

Improvements to Standby Functions:

  • The standby functions will now regularly connect to the Internet when the Wii U is powered down to check for available SpotPass data or software and system updates. Software updates will be installed while the Wii U is powered down, and system updates will be installed the next time the Wii U is powered on.

Improvements to system stability and usability:

  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.

There is another update planned for the Wii U sometime between late September and early October, that update should contain the performance boost that will get rid of the sluggishness gamers have been complaining about, since the console’s initial release back in November 2012.
