What We Played October 15 – 21

Welcome to Press Start! This is a weekly segment that dives into what we here at The Game Fanatics are currently playing. Feel free to leave a comment with what you’ve been playing or if you have any questions about the games that we are currently involved with.

Jake: Plenty of Pokemon and Dishonored. Absolutely loving both of them. Missing my WoW time for sure.

Jeff: I played catch up this week. I nabbed Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition and spent a few hours in the first RPG I’ve ever liked. I’m going back through Resident Evil 4 with the end-game bonuses, and it’s oh so satisfying. Finally, I burned through Call of Duty World at War, which is now one of my favorite single-player FPS campaigns this generation. It pulled off the scale of Call of Duty 2 with the spectacle and nuance of Call of Duty 4, and Gary Oldman is great as always as Sgt. Reznov.

Joel: I have been playing NBA 2K13, Borderlands 2, and Guild Wars 2 in that order the last week. Just picked up Dragon Age II again, and Uncharted 3, and am completely in gaming heaven with a mix of my favorite genres. Guild Wars 2 is as addicting as ever and NBA 2K13 continues to be my main game right now.

Enis: I’ve played a lot of Mass Effect 3 MP again due to Retaliation coming out. I just can’t get enough of the challenges – I just like to be a perfectionist with challenges. Halo: Reach got some attention and will continue to do so the closer it gets to Nov. 6th.

Luis: I recently picked up a 3DS and Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance to go along with it. Shortly after I also bought Pokemon Black Version 2. I’m having a lot of fun with both. I’m also revisiting Red Dead Redemption in an attempt to collect all the trophies and get a 100% game completion rating. I’m pretty close now. I’m somewhere around 95% complete. Aside from that, the occasional iOS game, but nothing too noteworthy there.

Ben: A bit more Resident Evil 6 coop and Kingdoms of Amalur early in the week. Then I got really into La Mulana which is an indie metroidvania style game. It’s filled with difficult puzzles and punishing bosses. I’m enjoying it a lot. Fans of the genre should definitely check it out. I also randomly played an hour of Diablo 3 for no real reason.

Greg: Been playing a bunch of Borderlands 2. Finally finished the main campaign with my assassin (melee backstabber specced) as well as Captain Scarlett’s Pirate Booty. Good fun. Started True Vault Hunter Mode, messed around with the Mechromancer a bit. Also started Assassin’s Creed Revelations. Trying to beat it before Assassin’s Creed 3 comes out.

Michelle: I revisited a lot of games on my backlog for Extra Life 2012 this weekend, including Dead Space, Halo 3, and Resident Evil 4 HD. I also got in some more Dead Island, Dance Central 2 (recorded myself dancing. I’m even wearing clothes!), and started L.A. Noire and Fallout 3. Not to mention an endless series of Words with Plays games with TGF’s Chris C.!

Matthew: Pokémon……WHITE 2. YOU CATCH POKÉMON. YOU MISS SCHOOL BECAUSE YOU WANT TO CATCH POKÉMON ALL DAY. END OF STORY.

Charles: XCOM. Since we checked it out at PAX East and E3 I knew this was a must by, and rightly so, the game is awesome. Also, of course, NBA 2K13!

Jen: I played a lot of XCOM this week as well as SWTOR. Both might be put aside for a little bit because of Assassin’s Creed 3 coming out next week.
