What We Played December 10 – 16

Welcome to Press Start! This is a weekly segment that dives into what we here at The Game Fanatics are currently playing. Feel free to leave a comment with what you’ve been playing or if you have any questions about the games that we are currently involved with.

Jake: Elder Scrolls Arena, The Walking Dead, Hawken, and………I think that’s it!

Greg: Finished up Mass Effect 3 and all the DLC. My second trilogy run complete. Was still in an RPG mood. Started Amalur again. We’ll see, my gaming ADD is starting to kick in again.

Jeff:  I spent a little more time mishandling ancient artifacts in Uncharted 3‘s multiplayer, but my game time this week has almost been entirely devoted to Rovio’s Angry Birds: Seasons and Bad Piggies. Sure, they’re the very definition of mainstream casual gaming, but there aren’t many games that can outdo them when it comes to fun.

Ben: I’m knee deep in some awesome XCOM action. It’s surprising how much I ended up liking this game. I always knew I liked strategy games but XCOM perfectly combines base building and squad maneuvering with a cool alien takeover plot line  It’s phenomenal and one of my favorite games of the year. Other than that I started another playthrough of Demon’s Souls because the Dark Souls 2 announcement forced me to.

Darrin: Still running through the first Mass Effect on PS3. I’d played thru twice on Xbox 360, but simply HAD to get it when it hit the PSN. I completely forgot just how much content there is; and while the two sequels had more shooter-heavy gameplay, there are still a lot of charming qualities about the more RPG-heavy first entry. Plus, knowing how the story ends now, I’m going to make completely different decisions just to see what happens.

Jen: Finally got my scoundrel to level 50 in SWTOR. My Jedi Shadow isn’t too far behind at level 41. Played a little bit of Bejeweled 3 and Forza Horizon. I found myself really enjoying Theatrhythm Final Fantasy on my iPhone. I don’t like playing iOS games, but this copy of the 3DS game has really got me hooked.
