What is the Worst Game You've Ever Played?

When I think about the worst game that I ever played, a few current games come to mind and it’s funny how I can’t remember that many bad retro games. This could be because those games that I played that were pretty bad are those games that I would like to forget.

There’s one retro game that I remember playing when I was younger that I did not like. This game was the original Legend of Zelda. I just couldn’t get into that game and to this day I have not been able to get into and enjoy and Link/Zelda game. Something about the game doesn’t appeal to me. I don’t think it’s the worst game that I ever played; it’s just a game that I couldn’t get into.

I have a thing where if I don’t like a game within the first few minutes of playing it then I know I won’t end up liking the game and in most cases I will stop playing said game. This might be a tad harsh but I’ve always been like this with video games, tt could be anything from terrible controls to a dry storyline that turns me off from a game.

I enjoy getting achievements over Xbox Live but if a game is so bad, I can’t force myself to finish it just for achievements. Wanted is a prime example of a game that I couldn’t get to the end of. Knowing that it’s a movie turned video game I knew it would be a bad game. However with me wanting to boost my achievement score I wanted to give it a go. I think I lasted about ten minutes before I sent it back to Gamefly.

While working at GameStop I made it my duty to know which games to avoid and which to play. This was either by first hand or by word of month from my customers and employees. Two Worlds was one of those games to avoid. One day, to test a video game system, I decided to put in Two Worlds. My staff wanted to shoot me for doing that and after a few minutes I was shocked that the system didn’t catch on fire.

One game that I did reserve and that I bought on the grounds that I loved the original is NiGHTS Journey of Dreams. I played the original Saturn game for hours on end. I currently own the original NiGHTS with the special edition controller that came as a bundle. Playing Journey of Dreams was like shattering my childhood with a hammer. Sadly, I still own the game and I have yet to beat it.

Yes, I’ve played a lot of bad games, most of which were returned or mailed out the same day. I’m a picky gamer and I don’t want to waste my time on a game that will feel more like homework than something that I should be enjoying. I guess the reason why I can’t name many of those games is because I rather remember the games that are great rather than the ones that gave me a headache.
