Valentine's for Gamers

Valentine’s Day isn’t until Monday but many are planning to celebrate it this weekend.

Here’s a list of things that couples (that happen to be gamers) can play together to celebrate their love together.

First up is Marvel vs. Capcom 2. With Marvel vs Capcom 3 releasing on the 15th, this is a great opportunity to practice those combos. If you don’t have the original Dreamcast version of the game, there’s always XBL and PsN. Or go retro with the original Mortal Kombat which might not prepare you for the new Mortal Kombat game, releasing April 19th, but will be good for a laugh and be witness to classic gore.

If singing and dancing is more your style, check out Rock Band 3, Beatles Rock Band, Lips, and Dance Central. Rock Band 3 offers a huge list of songs to play and sing from almost every genre of music while Beatles Rock Band offers the best of the best from The Beatles. Lips is strictly singing if you don’t like playing with instruments. If you have Kinect, check out Dance Central and challenge each other to a dance off. If actual dancing isn’t your style, get that Dance Dance Revolution dance pad out from the closet and enjoy one of their several dancing games.

There’s also a huge supply of shooting games that the two of you can either be part of a team or against each other, like Halo Reach, Halo 3…pretty much any Halo game, Gears of War or Call of Duty. If zombies interest the two of you, check out Left 4 Dead and if you’re feeling retro, Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

There’s heaps upon heaps of games that can be played together as a couple or watch your counterpart play games like Heavy Rain and Uncharted, which are like an interactive movie.

For those lucky enough to have a partner that enjoys staying at home playing video games for Valentine’s Day, you guys rock. Don’t forget that if you ever get tired of shooting each other, all current gen systems offers Netflix so you’re not that far from a video game and movie.
