THQ Delays South Park, Metro: Last Light, Company of Heroes 2

THQ, the publishing outlet in midst of an uncertain future, delayed three highly anticipated games today with South Park: The Stick of TruthMetro: Last Night, and Company of Heroes 2.

The delay of the upcoming South Park title, which was originally scheduled to release early 2013, is no surprise. Not only has the game not been seen in any sort of playable form, but the South Park team is known for developing their TV episodes until the last second. I’d be shocked if the same isn’t said about the game’s development team.

Speaking about the delays of Metro: Last Light and Company of Heroes 2, THQ President Jason Rubin had this to say:

We are also inspired by the potential for Metro: Last Light and Company of Heroes 2. I believe Metro: Last Light is a title that should set standards for visuals with its stunning atmosphere, unique location and cutting-edge style. Company of Heroes was one of the highest rated RTS titles in history, and Relic insists that the sequel live up to its pedigree. Giving both of these titles time to reach their full potential is the right thing to do for the products.

For a company that’s facing the end of the line, it’s nice to see that they’re still setting high standards for their products. But the question remains: will THQ stay around long enough for these games to see the light of day? Their E3 presence this past year was virtually non existent. Hopefully we won’t be saying the same next year.
