Thirty Days of Video Games Day Eighteen – Favorite Protagonist

You have Mario who has saved the Princess several times over and who has also saved the Mushroom Kingdom from certain doom. There’s Sonic who saved animals from the evil Dr. Robotnik, Christopher Blair who saved Earth despite being ridiculed and all of the protagonists from the Final Fantasy series had something to overcome.

After a lot of thinking, one character stands out as one of my favorite protagonists. Funny how it’s so easy for me to come up with my favorite antagonist but to find the hero that I like the best, that is so much harder to choose. I guess it’s because there are so many to choose from that really stand out.

There is one who fought against a threat against the galaxy and died while saving her crew mates. Even death could not stop Commander Shepard and she (or he) was brought back to save the lost to only discover a greater threat to everyone, not just Earth.

Commander Shepard, be it male or female, good or bad, she has gone through so much and she keeps on fighting to save humans and aliens alike, even when the situation seems hopeless.

There were several times when Shepard could have just walked away but she didn’t. She managed to become the first human Spectre and proved to the non-human races that humans are capable of great things.

“Spectres are not trained, but chosen. Individuals forged in the fire of service and battle—those whose actions elevate them above the rank and file.”
