Gamer etiquette has been lost with the introduction of public lobbies. Call of Duty public lobbies have been known for their outlandish commentary while in the pregame lobby. The things that are said and heard are sometimes a monstrosity. For many, private chat parties are a must for those a little on the sensitive side. There are no rules that people follow while communicating in these lobbies but there are three little golden rules that you can follow to make your in-game Call of Duty experience fantastic.
#1: Utilize The Mute Feature
One of the most annoying things that gamers complain about in public lobbies has to be the lack of muting. When other gamers sit too close to their television and all you hear is their game sounds… it can be very frustrating to “focused” gamers.
Mute them. It takes a whole two seconds to save your team from the constant annoying complaints that will come out of your mouth. Another great thing about the mute feature in public lobbies is to mute vulgar language and children being screamed at by their parents… I don’t know how many times I have heard some kid’s mother raging in the background about turning off their console.
One of the reasons “Utilize the Mute Feature” is an important golden rule is that it shows other gamers that you have respect for them. Muting yourself while you have another conversation or muting an unfriendly gamer is important. Muting people saves you a headache from unwanted annoyances.

#2: Blow Up Everything
How many times have you been running through a map and for no reason you get owned by a exploding car or a propane tank? Nasty little claymores sitting in your path by a car… you got flak jacket on… you think you can make it… nope. Car blew up with the claymore. Sneaky claymore placement eh? Well, to solve this problem and to share the next golden rule is: “Blow up Everything!”
Have it be a car, a propane tank, or a random explosive can… blow it up. Gamers use these objects to help with their game strategies and utilize them for kills. A lot of the time they blow up at random from a poor shot. A smart gamer will use a claymore, C4, and/or grenades to ensure a kill or a distraction by using these explosive game objects to help win the game.

#3: Don’t Stand In Doorways
The most frustrating and important golden rule to follow when you are playing Call of Duty is “Don’t Stand in Doorways!” This is not limited to lying down in doorways, crouching in doorways, spinning in circles in doorways…
Absolutely one of the most frustrating things to gamers is not being able to get in or out of a building due to some noob cake hiding in the doorway.
I get it. You think sitting in the doorway behind the door is a good place to camp. You can see people and they can’t see you… wrong. A good gamer will know you are there and get you through the wall. When you are standing, crouching, spinning, laying down in a path where people frequently traffic to get to places on a map, you are just hurting your team.
Unfortunately, your character is not a ghost. You cannot be walked through or walked over. You pretty much are a huge road block. Take it upon yourself to move quickly and efficiently when you are leaving a spawn. Learn the maps so you know where a better “camping” spot is. That little bush outside the door looks great. Go camp there.
