Telltale announced that Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series will launch on April 18.
The first episode in the series is titled Tangled Up in Blue. In keeping with the film’s admiration for 60’s and 70’s era music, the episode is named after a classic Bob Dylan tune. While Telltale didn’t give further details on the plot of the episode they did confirm Thanos will battle the Guardians.
The first episode of the game will cost $5 like previous Telltale offerings. Additionally, you can digitally purchase the full season up front for $20. A retail season pass disc will launch on May 2 in North America and May 5 in other regions. It’s important to note that the retail disc is just a season pass. An internet connection is required to download future episodes as they become available.
Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series is the latest in a long line of major licensed games for the studio. The studio recently announced the voice cast for the game and it includes some Telltale vets. Telltale is going through some organizational changes as well, as their CEO recently stepped down.
The Guardians of the Galaxy have been busy with other projects as well. In addition to this game, there is a rumor that Deus Ex developer Eidos Montreal is working on a Guardians game. That game would be part of Marvel’s recent deal with Square Enix. The next film in the Guardians series, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, hits theaters on May 5. Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
