Techland to Raise Price on Dying Light Season Pass

The Dying Light season pass, almost a year after the game released, is getting a price hike to cover a larger tab.

In what might be an industry first, developer Techland has given fans a heads up that their $20 season pass is about to be a bit more expensive. Starting December 8, anyone that wants to purchase all of the zombie-fueled DLC in the pass to Dying Light will have to cough up ten extra dollars. This will not affect anyone who has the season pass already, or anyone that buys the pass before December 8 (hint, hint), in any way as you will still receive all of the content for your lesser price.

It is the evolution of one of those pieces of content that is inflating the price of the Dying Light season pass. Techland has apparently grown their upcoming expansion entitled The Following to such a size that it justifies the new price tag. “Looking at it,” the company said in a statement, “it’s clear how big the expansion pack has grown – it could be a stand-alone title, but since it would mean a launch delay, we decided against it.” The team then urges fans to hold tight as more details on The Following are impending. According to their website, The Following alone will be “the size of all original Dying Light maps combined” and will offer new game mechanics such as vehicles in the midst of a brand new, non-linear story. It’s release date is up in the air for early 2016.

The rest of the Dying Light season pass has been fairly straight forward, but not necessarily light on content. New missions, weapons, and a zombie Horde Mode have all been added with The Following being advertised as the meatiest expansion of the pass for fans to chop through. And many fans there seem to be as the game has sold over 5 million copies since launching in January and is still being thrown around in GOTY talks.

If you’re going to dive into the Dying Light season pass, making sure to do so before December 8 to save yourself $10. After that, it’ll jump to $29.99 across the platforms.

[toggle title=”Press Release”]Dear fans, Over the past weeks Dying Light: The Following has almost reached its final stage: main quests, side quests, new skills, and driving challenges are ready. We now are moving into the polishing period. Looking at it, it’s clear how big the expansion pack has grown – it could be a stand-alone title, but since it would mean a launch delay, we decided against it. Due to the increased scale of the project, we needed to revise the pricing that we announced back in August, and so we want to let you know that Dying Light: The Following will be priced at $19,99. As promised back in August, our expansion will still be free for all Dying Light Season Pass holders. However since the Season Pass will now include this bigger-than-anticipated addition, we needed to adjust the price accordingly. Starting December 8th 2015, the Season Pass will be sold at $29,99. We didn’t want this to come as a surprise to you, so we’re announcing it in advance. This price change will not affect players who already own the Season Pass. So if you’re looking forward to Dying Light: The Following, you still have time to get the whole Season Pass package, including the expansion at only $19,99. Just remember to do it before Dec 8th. We’ve got some cool reveals about what’s in Dying Light: The Following and we’ll be sharing them with you really soon, so stay tuned! Regards, — Dying Light Team[/toggle]
