OGPlanet, announced today that they, alongside Minh “Gooseman” Le, the co-creator of Counter-Strike, are gearing up to launch TACTICAL INTERVENTION. What they are calling a team-based, first-person shooter (FPS), on March 28 in North America. The game, however, will be available shortly before then, entering Open-Beta Testing on March 14.
Developed by the legendary FPS designer, Minh Le (formly of Valve) and FIX Korea, fans have long-awaited the release of TACTICAL INTERVENTION since Le’s departure from Valve years ago. Learning from his previous work, Le was able to implement all-new features that he had always wanted to work into an FPS. From a Highway Mission where players will climb into the driver’s seat and shoot hanging out of vehicle passenger windows, all while chasing after the same target, to calling in attack dogs to come to their aid.
Players won’t be restricted to firearms either, as such tools like tactical rappel ropes can be used to gain the upper hand on opposing forces. Players will also have to be conscious of civilians, as they can be taken as hostages and used as human shields. The game will focus heavily on a teams ability to strategize, execute, and eliminate their targets in a coordinated fashion. TACTICAL INTERVENTION places team-based tactics and hardcore, fast-paced gameplay at the forefront of battle.
As an additional bonus to fans, OGPlanet, working with Joystiq.com, will be hosting an exclusive Closed-Beta Test of TACTICAL INTERVENTION before the game’s March 14 Open-Beta Test. This event will run from March 4 through March 8 and players can sign up for the Tactical Intervention Closed-Beta Test on Joystiq by visiting the following URL, and following the on-screen instructions.
