Say hello to the PS Vita Slim.
In a special press conference last night, Sony unveiled the newest model of the PS Vita, which will come in multiple colors, will be thinner than the already slim PS Vita and come backed with – gasp – a 1 GB memory card.
It’ll cost $200. launch in Japan in October, according to Kotaku, and also has a slightly better battery life. It also wasn’t the only thing announced last night, as Sony made a surprising move to reveal the PS Vita TV, which is essentially a Super Game Boy for your Vita games.
The Vita TV will launch in Japan in November, cost $100, and will work with a DualShock 3 controller. Sadly, it won’t play every Vita game, since the DS3 doesn’t have a rear touch-pad or a touchscreen, meaning games that have mandatory touchscreen controls won’t be playable. Games in which the mechanics are optional – like Uncharted: Golden Abyss – should still work.
The PS Vita Slim will also come in a number of bundles, including Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD, Gundam Breaker, and God Eater 2. No word yet on if any of these bundles – or the PS Vita TV for that matter – will ever hit North America.
