Solus Project Coming to Xbox One and Steam Early Access Programs

Solus Project

The Solus Project will be bringing it’s brand of first-person survival to early access ports along the shoreline this month.

The team at Grip Digital and Teotl Studios want you to give their new survival and exploration title another look if you’re growing fatigued by the new norm of the genre. Grip CEO Jakob Mikyska described The Solus Project as “a narrative-driven, single player survival experience, full of mystery and millennia-old secrets waiting to be unraveled” while his counterpart at Teotl, Sjoerd De Jong, wants their game to be “what survival games could be.” The story will deal with the struggle of survival itself both from the perspective of your player and of the human race against nature, or whatever other dangers you’ll find on the planet.

Solus Project

From the first trailer, The Solus Project has looked like a solitary, hitting experience that will offer a lot of scrounging and collection of resources on top of an isolationist story tied somewhere with saving the world. As is currently planned, the game will release in its first, incomplete state on Steam Early Access on February 18 and Xbox Game Preview on February 26 and will be updated episodically. Each update will open up a new part of the world, the next step in the story, and, presumably, make whatever fixes are desired by the team and players. As the video above details, there will be wide-open outdoor areas and linear corridor interiors, making it seem as though most of the story will take place organically outside while the indoors will offer something a bit more unavoidable.

Check out the developer video above to see The Solus Project as it stands. Those that want to wait can expect a May of 2016 full release for the game on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
