The incredibly popular new title Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure claimed its place as top dog so far in this year’s sales charts.Skylanders set record breaking sales numbers a few months ago when it released in October of 2011, but within the first few months of this year it topped itself and once again set a record by being the #1 console and handheld title between the months of January 2012 and April 2012.
For those not familiar with Skylanders, it is a video game that combines physical toys that come in all shapes and sizes. The monsters you select combined with the Portal of Power peripheral included in the starter pack grant you the ability to transport your monsters from physical form into digital form in the game. Collect creatures and monsters and watch them spring to life within the game to defeat your enemies. Aside from starting to set records this year, Skylanders was the #1 selling kids video game worldwide in 2011.
Keep an eye out for the newest addition to Skylanders at this year’s E3 as well. The official reveal of the new title officially dubbed Skyanders Giants will make its grand debut this coming week at E3. The game is set to launch October of 2012.
