Sackboy Gets on the Fast Lane in LittleBigPlanet Karting

Developer United Front Games, working in conjunction with Media Molecule, are creating LittleBigPlanet Karting. A PlayStation 3 exclusive that seeks to add a bit of flavor to LittleBigPlanet’s (LBP) “Play, Create, Share” slogan, with a Karting experience.

Guy Longworth, Senior Vice President, PlayStation Brand Marketing, had the following to say over the next “Play, Create, Share” title:
Since the launch of LittleBigPlanet, our community has provided incredible
support, which can be seen in the more than six million levels and games
that have been created and shared online through PlayStation Network, a
truly wonderful accomplishment. Now, we’re thrilled to bring
PlayStation 3 owners  the next Play, Create, Share experience,
LittleBigPlanet Karting, a brand new competitive karting adventure that is
sure to move this genre forward, providing endless entertainment for fans
and newcomers, while resonating with every member of the family, young and
old.
The LBP community has seen more than six million user-generated levels and games shared and played over the PlayStation Network. LBP Karting seeks to do the same for the karting side of things. Players can create their own race tracks, but also much more than that. Players wont be limited to only creating a track, they’ll be able to create their own karting experience. What do I mean by that? Players will be able to let their imaginations run wild. They can create their own game rules, weapons, and of course tracks, to fully customize the game to their liking.

Players of LBP Karting will also be able to share their creations to the entire community over the PlayStation Network for other gamers to enjoy as well. If the LBP trend continues, we’ll be sure to see millions of creations from gamers/designers across the world.

With LBP Karting, players can jump right behind the wheel with the lovable Sackboy for intense fast paced kart racing. These new vibrant 3D worlds will feature ultra-competitive arena battles, objective-based missions, boss battles, mini-games, and of course classic kart racing.

LittleBigPlanet Karting is set to launch for the PlayStation 3 sometime in 2012.
