During Sony’s February press event it was revealed that Gaikai was acquired to stream gaming to multiple devices, and Sony’s updated site suggests that the PlayStation Vita will play most, if not all of the PS4’s titles.
Although the description does not specifically state that all of the PS4’s titles will be streamable to the PlayStation Vita, the suggestion of being a standard feature allows the assumption that at least the majority of games will be covered.
The Remote Play feature has promised, tinkered around with, and underutilized since the heyday of Sony’s massive, little black mistake –the PSP– and many are skeptical that, like the PSP before with the PS3, the Vita will not be capable of handling this increased workload and only time will tell if these lofty promises will be fulfilled.
News regarding the PlayStation Vita has been oddly quiet for something struggling so badly and the added feature, or change of focus, for the handheld is great news for its future and current owners; we’ll take all we can get.
One thing is certain, that if either the Vita itself isn’t given a price drop or it’s not massively discounted in a bundle with the PS4, few will be willing to partake in one of Sony’s biggest selling points –untethered next-generation gaming– for their next console and that could severely hurt the PS4 sales.
