PlayStation 4 Has Sold More than 50 Million Units Worldwide

PlayStation 4

As of December 6, the PlayStation 4 collection of consoles has sold more than 50 million units worldwide, and last Black Friday marked a historical milestone in this console’s history.

According to Sony, this remarkable feat was achieved yesterday and it includes both the standard version as well as the PlayStation 4 Pro. It seems that some of those crazy deals between Black Friday and Cyber Monday truly helped achieved this milestone. Sony has mentioned that during those days Sony reached their best numbers in history. They did not delved into specifics though.

“We’re truly delighted that the PS4 community continues to flourish since launch three years ago,” Sony Interactive Entertainment boss Andrew House has said. “With tremendous support from our fans and partners across the globe, this year we were able to deliver an unprecedented lineup of hardware […]. We will continue to provide the best gaming experiences available through our ground-breaking software lineup and network services, as we focus on accelerating our business and expanding the PS4 ecosystem.”

These crazy numbers do not only apply to the console specific sales. In terms of game traffic, Sony keeps their digits high, with more than 369.6 million copies sold, both in physical retailers as in the PlayStation Store. With these numbers, Sony consolidates its position in the console market. They are still far away from the 80 million units that PlayStation 3 accomplished though. We shall see if time grants them that deed as well!

If you are still doubting whether to get it or not, this may help you. Amazon is currently selling a Uncharted 4 PS4 Slim bundle with 12 months of PlayStation Plus for $270 (via Kotaku). Not a bad deal to start off the month.
