It’s Official: Titanfall 2 Open Beta Starts this Weekend

Titanfall 2

Prepare for…you know how it goes. Respawn Entertainment will run an open multiplayer beta for Titanfall 2 for the next two weekends of August.

Welcome back, pilots! With these words Respawn Entertainment sets the mood of their new trailer and fulfills some serious desires. The studio has announced that they are serving two multiplayer open betas for Titanfall 2, happening this weekend and the one after. The tech tests are open to all Xbox One and PlayStation 4 users and they will serve the team to monitor general server performance. PC users have to wait until further notice since their version is not ready. According to Respawn, they are still working on supporting different hardware and tuning in optimization.

Titanfall 2 August Tech Tests in a Nutshell

The first phase of the beta will go from this Friday 19 through Sunday 21 and will allow us to venture into two modes. The first one, called Bounty Hunt, is a brand new 5v5 ordeal in which the two teams not only have to face each other but also dodge and deal with the “neutral” Remnant Fleet. As the name indicates, it’s all about gathering points while killing and adding them to our bank without dying. The second mode is Pilots vs. Pilots and confronts two teams of 8 pilots each with no titans allowed. During this weekend we will have access to two maps, Boomtown and Homestead.

The second phase will start on Friday 26 and until Sunday 28. To all the content already mentioned, Respawn is adding one mode called Armed Hardpoint. This one is your typical Titanfall’s Hardpoint Domination mode but with a little revamp that allows teams to double their score if they amp a Hardpoint while defending it. There will be a third map available, called Forward Base Kodai.

In both occasions we’ll have the chance to mingle with the Network feature, Titanfall’s rendition of multiplayer clans.

Titanfall 2 is coming to all platforms on October 28. Take a look to the trailer above to get you a taste of how the multiplayer feels like and don’t forget to check our coverage for the single-player campaign, which promises to be different.
