NVidia Details Their Newest Low End GPU’s

We at TheGameFanatics have found some specification concerning NVidias newest line of consumer level Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), set to replace the previous generation of cards. Before we get into the tech specs on these cards, I want to provide a quick rundown of how these cards are announced.

Companies like AMD and NVidia like to release their graphics card in sets of waves. The first cards that are announced to the public are often considered the ‘Enthusiast line’, because of their price and performance. After the enthusiast line of cards have been on the market for a while, then comes the ‘Mid-Ranged’ cards, which are scaled respectively to their performance (on a 2-to-1).

Followed by the final batch of video cards which are scaled directly on a 1-to- scale to offer good performance with affordability, which is where we are today with this announcement of the GTX 660 TI line of video card. The specifications acquired by Swedish site SweClockers reveals that this latest line will be the equivalent of a GTX 670, but with half of the power.

GeForce GTX 660 TI:

  • GPU: GK104 (Kepler)
  • Cuda Cores: 1,334
  • Base Frequency: 915MHz
  • Boost Frequency: 980MHz
  • Memory Bus: 192-bit**
  • Memory: 2GB GDDR5
  • Memory Frequency: 6,008MHz
  • TDP: 150W

Now if we take a look at the specification for a GTX 670.

GeForce GTX 670:

  • GPU: GK104 (Kepler)
  • CUDA Cores: 1,344
  • Base Frequency: 915Mhz
  • Boost Frequency: 980Mhz
  • Memory Bus: 256-bit **
  • Memory: 2GB GDDR5
  • Memory Frequency: 6,008MHZ
  • TDP: 170

As you can see from the above specifications for both the GTX 660 Ti and the GTX 670, the video cards are nearly identical. The only difference being the memory bus between them and total draw power (TDP). Based on the specifications I would have to believe the card will be priced between $240-$170 USD. As for performance we’ll have to wait until August 16, 2012 when the cards are projected to be released.
