Never Alone will no longer be a standalone game with an expansion coming to offer new content to this story-filled platformer.
Developer E-Line Games gave a couple of announcements today related to their award-winning title, the first of which revolved around expanding the main game with Foxtales. One element being added in this new DLC is control over the canoe depicted sparsely in the original run of Alaskan wilderness. New story sections and missions will also be added into the mix with Foxtales as well as at least one new area described as an Arctic Spring and a new, “unexpected” villain.
One of the highlights of the indie scene in the past year, Never Alone offers players a look into the culture and history brought through the ages by Alaskan Natives. The game’s main character, Nuna, has to use her friendly spirit animal Fox to traverse and stop an evil warlord’s advances through their icy lands. Nuna will remain the heroine while both her and Fox will gain abilities within Foxtales. Fox, for instance, will be able to shift currents during the canoe sections, almost certainly leading Nuna through further obstacles within the Never Alone world.
The other announcement regarding this title is that other Sony consoles, besides the PlayStation 4, will soon be feeling the chill of this Alaskan tale on their storefronts. PlayStation 3 and Vita owners will have their respective copies ready sometime this fall, also adding in the possibility of cross-buy for those that picked up the game on PS4 already.
The Foxtales expansion will be available for download on July 28 for PlayStation 4 owners. Wii U, Xbox One and PC versions currently have an unknown waiting period for the Never Alone expansion. No price was given either, but we will update as any information is shared.
