Mission Against Terror Holiday Event for Christmas Weekend

Personally, I’ve been semi-active in free-to-play online FPS gaming, but I am practically exclusive to Nexon’s Combat Arms for that. Nonetheless, if you want to check out an alternative (not to mention an opportunity to be getting your hands on some potential holiday bonuses) then take a look at the Mission Against Terror open beta. (I’m planning to begin scheduling a regular “Take a Look Tuesday” in the style of my Cosmic Break expience and take on a good session or three and begin playing this game for my discussion next week. In fact, there’s no way I could avoid scheduling a time for playing around with the game before all the Christmas hoopla ends provided that I have the technical bling and open time for setting up for a few good sessions — probably beginning Sunday morning at the latest possible time, case depending.

Going back into our primary subject, there’s a bunch of virtual holiday swag to be earned from 4:30 to 6:30 EST on both he Christmas day and post-Christmas day (that so-called Boxing Day for you Canadian people) with snowball grenades for one day use, along with a Christmas hat (presumably the Santa Claus version) and consisting of a whole ton of double silver coins up for grabs as you play. Last call is scheduled on Monday from 7:30 to 9:30 EST. Plus, there’s a special prize for the highest scoring players over the weekend but publisher Wicked Interactive doesn’t want to set the proverbial cat loose from the bag until the weekend is festivities are over.

In other words, as Wicked Interactive director Sam Ho says:  “We wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise,” adding that “It’s more fun this way.”

If you wish to join in the festivities before I have a chance to play (and to reap all of the holiday rewards) then go to http://mat.subagames.com/ and sign up to play. I’ve posted the whole of the press release below, as well.

(Update: the event status is unknown due to some technical issues, see the end text for more details.)

Set in a near-future not so different from our own time, M.A.T. pits teams against one another in a bitter battle for the survival of the human race. Unanimously hailed for its solid gameplay and wide variety of game modes, M.A.T. has taken North America by storm, after becoming quite popular in Asia and other parts of the world.
