Kojima Unveils New Details about Death Stranding

Death Stranding

There are a lot of mysterious titles coming in the gaming pipeline, those whose plot and gameplay we can barely discern. Death Stranding, the next development venture of Hideo Kojima, is certainly one of them. Since its showcase during E3 2016, we have been hooked to each piece of information there is, trying to make out what the game is all about. To no avail, of course.

Kojima knows how to keep the silence and how to tease. However, once in a while he comes out with an interview, and Death Stranding gains a little bit more of substance. PlayStation’s blog has just published an exclusive interview with the Japanese creator. Long story short? Death Stranding is not a horror game – although that we already knew. Instead, we should think about the game as a sort of open world action title. Conceived clearly as something “out-of-the-box”, Death Stranding is somehow “in line with the world that we live in now”.

Death Stranding Will Have a lot of Freedom

When asked more specifically about gameplay details, Kojima went into dodge mode. He rambled about the concept of freedom instead. It seems that Death Stranding will feature a lot of this, whether it involves getting into vehicles, killing everything that moves, or opting for less violent maneuvers to overcome obstacles. Kojima also delved a little bit into the multiplayer element of the game. Yes, there is the possibility somehow of playing Death Stranding online, albeit not in the way you may think. “There will be something different versus what most people expect from an online game”, he declared.

Closing up the interview, Kojima reassured that the game is progressing. “We’re still running tests on the game,”, he said, “but we have made it to the stage where we have the framework worked out. This year is all about hardcore production and development, so please look forward to the fruits of our labor further down the road.” You do not need to ask twice, mister.
