Indigo Prophecy Launches August 9 On PS4

It has been confirmed by Sony that on August 9th, Indigo Prophecy will be released as a 1080p digital title on PlayStation 4 consoles.

Fahrenheit, or Indigo Prophecy as it is known in North America, is the Quantic Dream’s second title and the game that put the developers, and their leader David Cage, on the video game industry map. This game is the predecessor to more well-known Quantic Dream titles such as Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and the highly anticipated Detroit: Become Human.

Initially released as a 2005 PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC multiplatform title, Indigo Prophecy garnered positive reviews from publications. For the re-release, Indigo Prophecy has been updated to be playable at 1080p and now supports a trophy system as well. The game received a remastered edition on PC earlier this year.

This story begins in New York City as one of the playable characters, Lucas Kane, becomes possessed in a public bathroom and commits a horrendous murder. With NYPD officers outside the bathroom doors, players must figure out how to escape and to find what truly is happening to him. Indigo Prophecy also follows two other playable characters, Carla Valenti and Tyler Miles, the two NYPD detectives hot on Lucas’s tail.

Quantic Dream co-CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere announced the re-release on the PlayStation Blog and had the following to say.

“Indigo Prophecy, in many ways, paved the way for Heavy Rain (released on PS3 in 2010, and on PS4 in 2016) and Beyond: Two Souls (PS3 in 2013 and PS4 in 2015). Most of the concepts found in its successors were invented during this game’s development: multiple characters, contextual gameplay mechanics, characters you can identify with, a cinematic experience (thanks to highly detailed environments), and beautiful music composed by Angelo Badalamenti and our dear late friend Normand Corbeil.”

As of right now, there doesn’t seem to be any plans that involves bringing Indigo Prophecy to Xbox One consoles. Last known pricing for this title was $14.99 when the game was supposed to release back in July.
