The much-anticipated adventure puzzler, RiME, has finally received an official release date of May 26th (and a little longer if you’re planning to play on Switch). RiME places you in the shoes of a young boy, shipwrecked on a mysterious island, who must explore the island’s secrets and use his wit to decipher its challenges. The game comes courtesy of the folks at Tequila Works, who are responsible for 2012’s Deadlight and the upcoming The Sexy Brutale, which we’re eagerly anticipating as well.
For a game that’s been on the radar since 2013, it’s nice to finally have a light at the end of the tunnel for RiME. The game is looking better than ever too with a beautiful, color-filled world that emits vibes similar to Journey and The Witness with a strong focus on environmental puzzles. If the soundtrack is half as charming as the music for the reveal trailer, we should be in for a real treat. Tequila Works has also reported that the game should take around 8 hours to beat, but closer to 10 if you want to fully explore it, which sounds like the perfect length for a game of this nature.
RiME will hit both retail and digital shelves with a price of $29.99 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will later be coming to Nintendo Switch, as one of the console’s 60 anticipated indie titles, at a slightly higher price of $39.99. There isn’t much explanation for the Switch price jump as of now, but hopefully, this won’t be a pattern for a system that’s already specializing in overpricing its library.
