Aegis Defenders is a fun and intriguing mix of 2D platforming and tower defense. It creates an intriguing world, lovable characters, and stunning art, but its difficulty scaling requires co-op play, which can break the game for solo players.

Battle Chef Brigade, from Trinket Studios and Adult Swim Games, is a loveable mishmash of genres that supersedes the sum of its parts to be one of the year’s most unique and enjoyable experiences. While there are some minor annoyances, they’re easy to look back with a winning gameplay formula, a strong cast of characters, and a world that’s easy to get lost in.
