It’s Halloween! So many creepy happenings are about to go down tonight, so here is a primer on last week. You know, In Case You Missed It!

In Case You Missed That Geography Lesson…

So did EA. See, Myanmar (also known as Burma) is a small country somewhere between India and Thailand (with some other countries in-between). Back in 1997, the United States placed sanctions against Myanmar, but President Obama announced back in September that the embargo would end. This ban was lifted as of October 7. Curiously, Myanmar residents who were excited to play Battlefield 1 and other EA games found that they could not access their Origin accounts starting around the time of Obama’s announcement. Even after the economic sanctions have been lifted, EA has said little other than “EA is legally required to restrict online services to residents of countries that are embargoed.” It’s the end of October, EA, and Myanmar still can’t join the rest of us on the Battlefield.

EA, this is Myanmar. It is nice, it is pretty, and it wants to play the games it bought from you.

In Case You Were Hoping for a Review Copy…

Bethesda will give you one. As in, they will give you your review copy a single day before the game is released. According to a blog post on the subject, Global Content Lead Gary Steinman stated that “we want everyone, including those in the media, to experience our games at the same time.” Needless to say, a lot of people are outraged – especially given the multiple copies of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition that were sent out early to Youtubers just before this announcement was made. Critics like Dan Stapleton and Jim Sterling state that developers should trust reviewers to let consumers know what games are worth getting. Bethesda is allowed to do this, and they did it with DOOM, which turned out alright. But what about the next game?

In Case You Wanted Good News About Bethesda…

Well, it seems like Skyrim: Special Edition had a few extra tweaks to make the game run better! YouTuber Brodual found five small improvements to the game’s engine in his first experience with the game. They include the fix of the infamous z-fighting bug, improved water effects, the ability to spawn even more things at once without breaking your computer, and more!

In Case You Missed It, Evolve Returned…

…but Evolve shall evolve no more. Last summer, Turtle Rock Studios re-released Evolve as a free-to-play game and dubbed it Evolve: Stage 2. As of last week, however, the developer will no longer be creating content for the game. According to a post on their forums, “[w]e have lots of stuff in the works that we hope you’ll enjoy but we are departing on the Laurie-Anne for the last time and must bid a farewell to the planet Shear. We’ll see you all again, another time on another world.”

Now we know why the monsters are so mad.
