It is being reported that HTC has now become the first third party company to acquire PlayStation certification for their mobile devices. This could mean that HTC devices – smartphones and tablets – will have the ability to play PlayStation certified games.
The certification program was announced when the PS Vita was announced, following the announcement of the PlayStation Suite for Android at the “PlayStation Phone” launch.
“It expands the PlayStation experience beyond the PSP border. It is the first cross-platform endeavour,” said Kaz Hirai, then Sony Computer Entertainment CEO and soon to be president and CEO of the whole of the Sony corporation.
If the reports are true, HTC will have an incredible advantage in the market, especially after acquiring the Beats technology.
