Heal Up with A Healer Only Lives Twice’s Trailer

Check out the new trailer for A Healer Only Lives Twice, a strategy game with a very unique premise.

A Healer Only Lives Twice is a strategy game where you play as the healer instead of the warrior. The character you control is a priest and it’s your job to keep the knight alive as he fights through hordes of the dungeon’s enemies. You’re also in charge of telling your Knight which enemy to fight next. There’s also a time mechanic in place.

The dungeons are lit by torches, which only stay illuminated for a certain amount of time. This will make the battles even more frantic. However, during each encounter a “red ball” item can be found. When it is used, the knight will destroy the remaining enemies in one fell swoop. This attack is a double edged sword. The enemies that are dispatched with the super attack will not leave any items behind. One of the main ways to get stronger and progress through the game is by crafting and leveling up. Items dropped by enemies can be invaluable.

A Healer Only Lives Twice is developed by Japanese indie developer, Pon Pon Games; a developer with only one member on its team. On Playism’s store page, the developer expresses his love for playing as healers in online games.  “I hope you enjoy playing the frantic role of healer as much as I do,” he states. There are many people who play MMORPGs and online shooters who like to play as support characters. The healers are not usually the stars of the show, since they don’t contribute to the kill counts. It’s really interesting to see a game that puts the support character at the front and center to show how frantic the job really is. Be warned, however, the publisher cautions that the game will have to be played more than once if you want to beat it: “For the first few times, you might get confused what to do, but after a couple of trials, now the real fight begins.”

A Healer Only Lives Twice will be available to purchase on June 3rd of this year. It will be priced at 4.99. You can also find the game on steam.
