It hasn’t been smooth sailing for the Master Chief Collection. Developer 343 Industries has been hard at work trying to fix up what was ultimately a shaky launch for multiplayer fans.
Originally touted as a Halo fan’s dream come true, the Master Chief Collection was supposed to bring not only all four main entries in the Halo franchise together, but also host over 100 multiplayer maps across a variety of playlists. The problem, though, is that the game’s matchmaking hasn’t exactly been working as intended.
Attempts to play online at launch were met with failure. Since its release on November 11th, I’ve played a total of three online matches. Due to the complete frustration of attempting to find a game, I’ve either played through campaigns or ignored the game all together until I hear of a better multiplayer environment.
A patch was added a few days ago, but people were still complaining about issues trying to find or play games over on the Halo subreddit. It appears that 343 is happy with the results, though, as they’re moving forward with more playlists.
Perhaps this is the start of a turnaround for the Master Chief Collection? Time will tell. I sure hope it is, though.
