Overwatch Halloween event returns October 10 and will run through November 2.
Following up last year’s successful Halloween event, Blizzard and Overwatch have again decided to treat fans to a spooky experience. There is not yet much information know about this year’s celebration.
The event was announced on the Overwatch Twitter page. It contained a video accompanied by a poem.
The nights grow cold
And monsters appear
A great evil gathers
And Halloween draws near… pic.twitter.com/oxUo1z1vDz— Overwatch (@OverwatchEU) October 3, 2017
Fans are already looking into the possible connotations of this message. Blizzard has a reputation for including hidden meanings in announcements and messages to fans.
PC, Xbox One, and PS4 versions of the game will all receive the update. It will include at least two new skins. The only two characters who will most certainly have new skins are McCree and Reaper, as they are featured in the announcement trailer.
Fans and followers alike have long been hoping for a new skin for the character D.Va and are hoping that this event will bring one to the game.
Blizzard has not yet announced any further specifics, but we expect more before the launch of the event.
Pharah, Bastion, Hanzo, Junkrat, Mercy, Zenyatta, and Reinhart were among the heroes given new character and weapon skins during last year’s event. Expect a similar showing in 2017. Last year’s event also included multiple new skins and a Halloween specific event titled Junkenstein’s Revenge.
We hope to see a return of the zombie’s survival style co-op game mode. We think players can expect the event to be brought back since this year’s logo prominently features the Junkenstein skin.
Overwatch continues to grow its player base and viewership, expanding further into the sphere of professional gaming. The all-new Overwatch League will begin at the start of 2018 and will likely only continue to grow.
