The game that many hail as the best in the Grand Theft Auto franchise is now available on iOS. Rockstar announced today that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 10th Anniversary is now available for purchase in the App Store for iOS devices. It costs $4.99, and is a “universal” app, compatible with iPhone 4, 4S, and 5, all iPad models, iPad Mini and iPod Touch 4th & 5th Gen.
As we reported earlier, the game is an enhanced version of the award-winning original game, optimized for mobile and tablet devices with several new mobile-specific features including customizable controls, a new camera control scheme and interface, upgraded textures, greater resolutions and increased draw distance… in all, Rockstar improved upon an already solid experience.
The original Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was originally released in October 2002 for the PlayStation 2, just one year after Grand Theft Auto III. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City expanded upon the open-world gameplay of GTA III, combined with nostalgia for the 1980s and taking the franchise from “popular” to “household name.”
Android phone and tablet users may have to wait a while, though: a file validation error seems to be stopping people from downloading it, leading to some negative scores in the Google Play Store.
